18th Joint International IMEKO TC1+TC7+TC13 Symposium


The 2017 Joint IMEKO TC1-TC7-TC13 Symposium: “Measurement Science Challenges in Natural and Social Sciences” will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 31st to August 3rd 2017. The Joint Symposium is organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), the Brazilian Society of Metrology (SBM), and the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO).

The scope of the Joint Symposium covers a broad and diverse range of topics that are relevant to the following Technical Committees of IMEKO:

  • TC1 - Education and Training in Measurement and Instrumentation
  • TC7 - Measurement Science
  • TC13 - Measurements in Biology and Medicine

While fostering advances and innovations in measurement science, including the challenging areas of human and social measurements, the 2017 Joint IMEKO TC1-TC7-TC13 Symposium encourages the integration of paired measurement science concepts, empowering a new dialogue between scholars, researchers, students, regulators and professionals devoted to the art and science of measurements. The multi-inter-and-transdisciplinary character of the symposium shall certainly contribute to a mature reflection about the importance and responsibility of reliable measurements needed to improve the global quality of life, standard of living, while ensuring human and environmental health.


The deadline for extended abstracts submission has been extended to March 24, 2017. 


Abstract Submission:

Authors are invited to submit presentation proposal abstracts written in English and consisting of a three A4 pages PDF file, according to the format available below or downloadable from the IOP site and following the indicated procedure.

The three-page proposal abstract and the full six-page paper formats are the same.
