Training

Price: on request

Academic or professional training in photonics is still mainly available through general programs in physics or electronics. However, Québec universities and colleges (cégeps) are increasingly striving toward more specialized curricula to keep in sync with new market realities. Photonics training as a separate field of endeavour is growing but strong mainstream training still opens many doors.

All Bachelor programs (physics, physics engineering, etc.) currently offer courses exclusively focused on or involving photonics. Undergraduate and graduate level specialized programs are also available (for more details, see below; Québec-defined levels used throughout).

The main non specialized career program in Québec’s colleges (cégeps) is Electronics Engineering Technology, with several courses tackling some aspect of photonics. Again, specialized programs are available (for more details, see below; Québec-defined levels used throughout).

Also, several companies offer professional development training focusing on photonics.

Consult the following institutions and organizations for their training programs:

Clean Technologies for Sustainable Development: What’s in it for the Photonic Industry?

The World Energy Council organizes a congress every three years.

"Clean Technologies for Sustainable Development: What’s in it for the Photonic Industry?” is a one day seminar, organized by The Quebec Photonic Network in collaboration with the National Optics Institute (INO) to provide inputs from representatives of the photonic industry that can be submitted as announcements and/or recommendations at the World Energy Congress. To this end, we have assembled an outstanding group of speakers to provide insight and inspiration to the attendees and to lead a forward looking discussion on the roles that Canada’s Optics and Photonics companies and their business partners can play.

This seminar will show you how to participate in the major projects developing in Clean Technologies.
